Ngày 4 tháng 6 năm 1989, thế giới đã chứng kiến một biến cố vô cùng đau thương và thảm khốc chẳng những cho người dân Trung Quốc, nhất là giới trẻ, mà còn là nỗi chua xót cho toàn thể nhân loại trong bình minh của ánh sáng tự do dân chủ.

Ngày 4 tháng 6 năm 1989, còn được gọi là “biến cố Lục – Tứ”, hàng ngàn sinh viên và dân thường, tay không tấc sắt đã bị xe tăng và súng máy tàn sát, máu đã đổ loang cho ước vọng quyền làm người thực sự cho người dân đại lục.

Ngày 4 tháng 6 năm đó, cũng là ngày mà người dân Ba Lan thành công trong cuộc bầu cử tự do đầu tiên, mở màn cho làn sóng dân chủ tràn ngập Đông Âu đưa đến sự sụp đổ của Liên Xô. Trong khi đó, ước vọng tự do tương tự tại Trung Quốc đã bị dập tắt một cách tàn bạo.

Thế giới đã lên án, nhưng không đủ mạnh và bền bỉ để ngăn cản một chế độ độc tài toàn trị thống trị dân tộc Trung Hoa hiền hòa và mưu đồ bành trướng tư tưởng độc tài vô nhân này trên toàn thế giới.

Cuộc thảm sát ngày 4 tháng 6 năm 1989 đã bị nhà cầm quyền che đậy và tìm cách xóa bỏ mọi vết tích lịch sử bi hùng trong ký ức của người dân Trung hoa.

Trước Biến cố Thiên An Môn ngày 4 tháng 6 năm 1989, chúng tôi, những người yêu chuộng dân chủ tự do từ Việt Nam xin đưa ra những đề nghị sau đây với cộng đồng thế giới:

–    Không quên lòng dũng cảm của người dân, nhất là giới trẻ, đã hy sinh tính mạng vì ước vọng tự do và tự quyết của nhân loại.

–   Tố cáo những tội ác dã man của Cộng sản thế giới.

–   Nhận thức rõ ràng bản chất bạo tàn, vô nhân của chủ nghĩa và chế độ độc tài cộng sản mà loài người muốn loại bỏ.

–  Lên án sự tàn bạo của đảng Cộng Sản Trung Quốc và giúp các dân tộc bị thống trị đạt được ước vọng tự do dân chủ của họ.

–  Ngưng tiêu thụ hàng hóa từ Trung Cộng và các nước cộng sản.

Chúng tôi xin chân thành tưởng nhớ và kính yêu cầu.

Alliance for Vietnam’s Democracy | Letter of Support  Letter of Support to China’s Democracy and Freedom  Jun 4, 2023   Dear Dr. Yang,  On June 4, 1989, the world witnessed a painful and tragic event not only for the Chinese people, but also for the whole world right at its dawn of freedom and democracy.  On that day, also known as the “June Fourth Incident,” thousands of unarmed students and civilians were massacred by tanks and machine guns. Blood was spilled for the dream of human rights for the people of mainland China.  On that same day, the Polish people held their first free elections, ushered in a wave of democracy that swept through Eastern Europe and led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. Meanwhile, similar freedoms in China were brutally quelled.  The world has condemned, but not strongly and persistently enough to prevent a totalitarian regime from suppressing a peaceful Chinese people and plotting to spread this inhuman authoritarianism all over the world.  In China and Hongkong, the June Fourth Massacre was covered up by the authorities which sought to erase all traces of the tragic history in the memory of the Chinese people.  In commemoration of the Tiananmen Square Massacre on June 4, 1989, we, the undersigned Vietnamese pro-democracy organizations, urge the international community:  – To not forget the courage of the people, especially the young, who sacrificed their lives for humanity’s yearnings for freedom and self-determination. – To denounce the barbaric crimes of communism worldwide. – To clearly recognize the brutal, inhuman nature of communism and the communist authoritarianism that humanity wants to eliminate. – To condemn the atrocities by the Chinese Communist Party and assist the captive peoples achieve their aspiration for freedom and democracy. – To diversify our supply chains from China and other communist countries.  With sincere remembrance, we respectfully request.  Alliance for Vietnam’s Democracy Thang Nghia Society Vietnamese Nationalist Party Viet 2000 Foundation Vietnam Democracy Center Vietnam Human Rights Day May 11 Organization Vietnamese American Republicans of Georgia Minh Van Foundation Vietnamese Environmental Protection SocietyBuddhist Church of America  CPIFC | Speech Jianli Yang: The Flame of Hope Can Never Be Extinguished Speech at the Candlelight Vigil Organized by Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation to Commemorate the 34th Anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre By: Jianli Yang – Jun 2, 2023   Dear Friends,  As we gather tonight, the flickering candlelight casting a gentle glow upon our somber faces, we mourn the fallen brave young men and women of Tiananmen Square. Thirty-four years ago on that horrific, never-to-be forgotten day as tanks rolled, thousands of young lives were cut short.   Their dreams were extinguished. Their voices were silenced.   There is a Chinese saying, “There is no greater sorrow than the gray-haired burying the dark-haired.”   Today’s remaining Tiananmen Square democracy movement participants have begun to turn gray. As we, the survivors, mourn those courageous young men and women, who sacrificed their lives on Tiananmen Square thirty four years ago, it feels as if the gray-haired were bidding farewell to the dark-haired.   The sorrow is truly immeasurable. The pain is never gone.  The fallen at Tiananmen Square were the embodiment of hope–a generation that dared to dream of a better China– a China where freedom, democracy, and human rights flourished. They believed in the power of their voices. In their ability to effect change. And in a future that would embrace the ideals they held dear.  Aspirations of now a new generation seeking change and reform are displayed in the White Paper Movement. Just as the students in Tiananmen Square did decades ago, today’s young activists are demanding transparency, accountability, and political freedoms.   The White Paper Movement echoes the spirit of Tiananmen. It serves as a powerful reminder that the fight for freedom and democracy is ongoing in China, and that the ideals of Tiananmen still resonate deeply within the hearts and minds of the Chinese people.   We must stand in solidarity with these courageous individuals and support their hopes and aspirations. Their battles are not isolated incidents. They represent a global fight for human rights and human dignity. By joining together to amplify their voices, we can create a world where the ideals of Tiananmen are realized.  May the candles we hold tonight serve as a reminder that the flame of hope must never be extinguished.
